Educational Programs:

Community involvement is critical for the recovery of any endangered species, and in Hawaii there is little opportunity for youth to observe native waterbirds up close or to develop a vested interest. Nene O Moloka‘i employs field trips to natural, restored and constructed wetlands and utilizes research-related bird banding to initiate a curiosity and interest in native wildlife and to cultivate an avocation or future career in natural resources.
